I’m auditioning/performing with the DC Chapter of Opera On Tap! This is an incredible international organization of singers bringing opera to the people—we will perform at the Wonderland Ballroom, a bar in the Columbia Heights area of Washington DC. It’s a bar, so what’s more appropriate that singing a little “Libiamo” from La Traviata? I’m keeping the Verdi good times going with my own audition selection—Sul fil d’un soffio etesio from Falstaff. Come for a drink, music and infuse your Thursday evening with fun! I appreciate your support in my “audition” portion of the evening—-I’ll be singing sometime around the end of the program, a few drinks in for most.

Stunning music and profound words combine to awaken our collective dreams of peace and freedom. In Leonard Bernstein’s “Kaddish” Symphony, the Hebrew prayer for times of bereavement sparks a heated exploration of spirit and fate, a testament made all the more poignant with updated words by a Holocaust survivor Samuel Pisar (narrated here by his family). Artistic Advisor James Conlon, leading a heart-wrenching score by the German-Jewish composer Franz Schreker, explores the latest in his series of Recovered Voices, honoring composers silenced by Nazi regime.

I’m really feeling lucky to be singing in the Chorus of Turandot in two performances at the Strathmore Music Center this February, with Maryland Lyric Opera. As Puccini’s last opera, it is truly a special occasion to be able to join forces with so many artists to bring it to audiences live and in person! Strathmore has been a place where I’ve stretched my musicianship in the past, and so I look forward to doing more of that in these performances. I hope you can make it! The music will thrill you.
